A gang member who shot at rivals outside a Birmingham nightspot has been jailed for 14 years after West Midlands Police officers found a handgun on his kitchen worktop.
Fabian Williams (pictured), who has links to the Johnson Crew, fired a single bullet from the revolver in the early hours of 13 March this year minutes after leaving city centre club Beorma .
CCTV shows Williams involved in a disturbance at around 3.45am before discharging a shot that sends revellers diving for cover.
Despite the seriousness of the incident in Fleet Street it was not reported to West Midlands Police at the time.
And it was only when detectives uncovered footage of disorder outside the venue on YouTube three days later that an enquiry was launched.
Williams was swiftly identified from the CCTV and he was arrested during a dawn raid at his flat in Manor Road, Aston, on the morning of 19 March.
During a search of the property officers found a .44 Smith & Wesson revolver with five bullets − including one spent casing − still in the chamber.
He refused to cooperate with police or answer any questions − but West Midlands Police detectives secured charges of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possessing ammunition.
And at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday (Sept 9) the 29-year-old was jailed for a total of 14 years.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Ian Leech from Force CID’s Violent Crime Unit, said: “It’s incredible nobody was killed or seriously hurt… the footage show Williams raise the gun in the air then lower it to around head height before firing.
“We secured the scene when it was clear that a serious incident had occurred − but there no sign of any damage to property and no-one reported injured to a hospital.
“Lots of people were leaving the club at the time and can be seen running in fear for their lives. Discharging a firearm in public is totally unacceptable but even more so in a busy place like this where innocent people could be injured.
“Williams has been handed a very long jail term for his actions… it shows how seriously the police and courts take gun crime and sends a message that anyone using a firearm on our streets faces being locked up for many years."
Charges against a 24-year-old man were dropped at court.
