Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Birmingham last night (23 August).
Officers were called to Summer Lane in Newtown at around 7.55pm to reports of the stabbing.
A man was found with life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where his condition remains critical.
The road has been closed while a forensic examination of the scene is carried out.
Detective Sergeant Adam Hicklin, from Force CID, said: “We’re in the early stages of the investigation but we believe the victim and suspect were known to each other.
“This happened relatively early in the evening last night and there’s a good chance there would have been other people walking or driving past at the time.
“Nobody has been arrested and we’d ask anyone with any information to come forward and contact us as soon as possible.”
Anyone who saw what happened or who has any information that may assist officers should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
